Secretary to The Treasury Commends Judiciary On the Appellate Courts' Superstructures

The Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury, Mr Ramathan Ggobi, has described the progress of the construction of the appellate courts as "a good work".

"This is very good work; you are doing us a very good service. You can proudly say Government of Uganda has done its part funding the project," the PS/ST said.

The PS/ST made these remarks this afternoon during his guided tour of the appellate courts superstructures at the Judiciary headquarters in Kampala.

While briefing the PS/ST, the Judiciary Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana, said the progress for the Supreme Court building is at 92 per cent while that of the Court of Appeal is at 85 per cent.

The PS/SJ said that the work is progressing very well and that the contractor was doing a good job. Dr Bigirimana added that he was committed to deliver the project on time. 

He noted that all was on schedule.

The Commissioner Engineering and Technical Services, Eng Dr Christopher Ebal said, "for the Supreme Court, there are three major things to be put, that is furniture, transformers big enough to power the building, and fire-fighting equipment installations".

He added that for the Court of Appeal building, the topcoat is being painted on the walls, but plumbing, air conditioning, and other electrical works, doors and fittings have already been installed.

The construction of the Appellate Courts is fully funded by the Government of Uganda with Seyani Brothers being the contractors.
